About the Role
Highgate is a leading real estate investment and hospitality management company with over $15 billion of assets under management and a global portfolio of more than 400 hotels. The Server/Bartender is responsible for the complete setup of the dining and bar area, serving and mixing drinks for all guests and servers, maintaining service and cleanliness, ensuring guest satisfaction, and controlling liquor inventory.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times; be attentive, helpful, and courteous to guests, managers, and fellow employees.
- Set up the bar according to hotel standards and ensure prompt and efficient guest service.
- Prepare beverages and cocktails following the hotel’s mixing and presentation standards.
- Serve guests with all beverage requirements in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
- Break down the bar after functions, storing liquor, supplies, and equipment according to hotel standards.
- Follow all state liquor laws and hotel policies, including safety rules.
- Monitor and address guest problems, complaints, and accidents.
- Know hotel services, facilities, and emergency procedures (fire exits, extinguishers, etc.).
- Ensure the bar and service areas remain clean and tidy during service.
- Follow procedures for serving liquor responsibly to avoid issues with intoxicated guests.
- Attend all required hotel meetings and trainings.
- Maintain regular attendance and comply with scheduling needs.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
- Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards to encourage safe and efficient operations.
- Maximize productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
- Handle problems proactively, including anticipating, preventing, and resolving issues.
- Understand and apply complex information from various sources to meet objectives.
- Cross-train in other hotel-related areas as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of information and show initiative in anticipating operational needs.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent; experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
- Ability to stand for entire shifts and perform medium work (exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds frequently).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees and guests.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Must be attentive, friendly, and service-oriented in all interactions.
- Flexible availability, including long hours and evenings (Monday–Wednesday PM).
