Part-Time Senior Veterinary Assistant

About the role

Our hospital is seeking a Part-Time Senior Veterinary Assistant to help provide outstanding patient care and client service in a fast-paced, multi-doctor animal hospital.

Responsibilities

• Assist Veterinarians in the care of animals, including restraining animals during initial examinations
• Stock examination and surgery rooms with supplies
• Sterilize tools and ensure equipment is in working order
• Perform technical skills (subject to state limitations), including:
  • Venipuncture
  • Catheter placement
  • Anesthesia administration and monitoring
  • Dental prophylaxis
  • Radiography
  • Administering medications
  • Performing laboratory analysis
  • Client education
• Communicate with clients (pet owners) and update patient files

Qualifications

• Demonstrates professionalism, dependability, and healthy, positive communication skills
• Ability to multi-task in a hands-on environment
• Energetic, compassionate, and caring with excellent work ethic and social/organizational skills
• Willing to work flexible hours, including weekends
• Ability to work individually or as part of a team
• Self-starter personality capable of completing daily tasks without constant direction
• Prior customer service experience
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs
• Regular on-site presence is required as an essential function of the role
