Part-Time Senior Veterinary Assistant

About the role

The Senior Veterinary Assistant assists Veterinarians in providing care to animals, including restraining animals, stocking examination and surgery rooms, sterilizing tools, and maintaining equipment. Responsibilities also include communicating with clients, updating patient files, and performing various technical skills as permitted by state law.

Responsibilities

• Restrain animals during examinations
• Stock examination and surgery rooms with supplies
• Sterilize tools and ensure equipment is in working order
• Perform technical skills such as venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia administration, and monitoring, dental prophy, radiography, administering medications, performing laboratory analysis, and client education
• Communicate with clients and update patient files

• Demonstrates professionalism, dependability, healthy and positive communication skills, and the ability to multi-task in a hands-on environment
• Energetic people-and-pet person with excellent work ethic and social and organizational skills
• Compassionate/caring
• Willing to work flexible hours including weekends
• Can work individually, as well as on a team
• Self-starter personality that can complete daily tasks without the need for constant direction

Skills, Knowledge, & Expertise

• Prior Customer Service Experience
• Able to lift 40 lbs
