About the Role
The Sales Lead (SL) assists team leadership and oversees daily operations and tasks, acting as the Manager on Duty (MOD) when leadership is unavailable. This role prepares the SL for potential succession to the Assistant Store Manager (ASM) position, ensuring the sales team operates efficiently, stays motivated, and meets sales objectives.
Responsibilities
- Sales Performance:
- Ensure the team meets or exceeds sales targets and quotas.
- Review sales performance metrics and KPIs regularly.
- Align with ASM to understand daily plan numbers and motivate hourly selling behaviors.
- Develop and implement effective sales strategies and techniques.
- Lead by example in selling behaviors and best practices.
- Leadership:
- Inspire and motivate the sales team to achieve their best.
- Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to ensure high performance.
- Escalate performance patterns to ASM and monitor documentation.
- Conduct training sessions and develop programs for the team.
- Oversee engaging training activities to encourage development and product knowledge.
- Suggest contest ideas and work with leadership to create motivating incentives.
- Task Supervision:
- Oversee daily activities of the sales team and provide guidance.
- Act as managing leader during opening, closing, and daily operations.
- Support daily operational tasks assigned by ASM or Store Manager (SM).
- Monitor associates’ sales behaviors and ensure adherence to sales floor expectations.
- Suggest social media content ideas and oversee the recording process during slow periods.
- Monitor Zoning Chart and Walkie adherence with ASM.
- Documentation:
- Ensure the Time and Attendance Log is up-to-date.
- Maintain open communication with ASM and SM regarding attendance patterns.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify areas for improvement in the sales process and assist in implementing changes.
- Skill Enhancement:
- Continuously develop personal selling behaviors and skills.
- Stay updated on trending sales tactics and product/policy knowledge.
- Customer Relationship Management:
- Engage with key customers and build strong relationships.
- Model and oversee associates’ customer interactions; provide feedback and coaching.
- Handle escalated customer complaints and ensure satisfaction.
- Sales Operations:
- Lead sales floor operations to ensure effective customer service.
- Delegate operational tasks and maintain status updates with ASM.
- Streamline and optimize the sales process for efficiency.
- Encourage selling strategies and motivate associates to increase UPT/ADS.
- Sales Initiatives:
- Lead and execute sales promotions and campaigns as delegated by ASM.
- Assist in new launch preparation, promotion marketing, and event planning.
- Oversee visual standards and execution of promotions and new launches.
- Coordinate the sales team’s efforts during new product launches.
- Delegate and oversee new launch tasks with associates.
- Disseminate communication updates across the team (e.g., new launches, promotions, floor assignments).
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in business administration, retail management, or related field preferred.
- Experience: Several years in retail, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Leadership: Proven experience in leading, training, and developing a team.
- Sales: Strong background in sales and achieving sales targets.
- Customer Service: Exceptional skills with a focus on creating a positive shopping experience.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to handle challenging situations with a calm and professional demeanor.
- Organizational Skills: Highly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Financial Acumen: Basic understanding of retail financials, including profit and loss statements, budgeting, and expense control.
- Technology Proficiency: Proficient in retail management software, point-of-sale systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
- Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail to ensure store standards and policy compliance.
- Dependability: Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
