Responsibilities
- Clean and prepare guest rooms to established standards of cleanliness and propriety to ensure guest satisfaction and maximize revenues.
- Retrieve items from shelves and storerooms; set up and maintain cleaning carts and storerooms in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Clean windows, doors, walls, closets, and fixtures in rooms, public areas, and hallways, including hard-to-reach areas using ladders or stools.
- Wash shower walls, tubs, toilets, and sinks; clean mirrors and restock restroom supplies to maintain sanitary conditions.
- Replace towels, soaps, and room amenities; restock literature removed or soiled by previous guests.
- Wash hard floor areas by hand to remove dirt and stains.
- Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and wall hangings, including vents and ceiling corners.
- Strip and remake beds with fresh linen; check bedspreads, blankets, and bed pads for cleanliness.
- Inspect mattresses and under-bed areas for soil; clean and restock closets with hangers, blankets, and pillows.
- Vacuum rooms, public areas, and hallways, including moving heavy furniture to access all carpeted areas.
- Inspect door and window locks for proper functioning; report unsafe or unsecured situations immediately.
- Check all room equipment (TV, lights, faucets, radios) for proper working order; report deficiencies in writing to the Executive Housekeeper.
- Secure and maintain custody of equipment, keys, and supplies to protect hotel property.
- Maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested by management.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of general cleaning principles, use of cleaning products, and operation of standard cleaning equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal/written instructions and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Physical Demands
- Lift up to 50 lbs. continually throughout a shift.
- Push, pull, and move levers, equipment, and furniture during a shift.
- Work with arms raised above head for extended periods.
- Maneuver a fully loaded maid cart (up to 50 lbs.) through hallways and into/out of closets.
- Identify minute debris and dirt in poorly lit areas; read written instructions and computer print-outs.
Work Environment
- Prolonged strenuous physical activity in an indoor, climate-controlled environment.
- Exposure to excessive heat and humidity in laundry areas (5% of shift).
- Primarily indoors (95% of shift).

Pay
Starting rate: $20.00 per hour.
