About the role
The Associate I, Retail Customer Host provides a welcoming first impression by greeting customers as they enter the store and thanking them as they exit. This role involves direct customer interaction, receipt checking as a loss prevention measure, and ensuring a positive shopping experience. The Associate is responsible for identifying discrepancies, communicating with customers and management to resolve issues, and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers with a warm smile and genuine welcome, providing store information, answering questions, offering shopping carts or baskets, and directing customers to specific areas.
- Manage customer flow during busy times and share relevant store information, such as item locations, discounts, and upcoming events.
- Thank customers sincerely for shopping and check receipts to verify purchases upon exit. Refer unvalidated merchandise to point-of-sale (POS) for additional customer service.
- Politely ask customers without valid receipts to return to the store for processing through POS.
- File appropriate reports with the Risk department.
- Use handheld scanners and devices to monitor transactions and report incidents via Think Risk.
- Maintain keen observation to monitor people and identify suspicious behavior while remaining calm.
- Follow all retail center policies, safety processes, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for employees and customers.
- Perform additional duties as required, which may extend beyond the listed tasks.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior retail store door attendant experience is a plus.
- Attention to detail and ability to make decisions.
- Proficiency in using basic technologies, including computer programs (Microsoft, Think Risk), phones, and scanners.
- Strong communication skills and ability to take initiative in various situations.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (bilingual skills are a plus).
- Capacity to interact with diverse individuals and build rapport.
- Excellent customer service skills, positive attitude, and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to handle customer inquiries and concerns calmly and professionally.
- Willingness to work a varied schedule, including weekends, evenings, holidays, and occasional overtime.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, especially in busy environments.

Pay
$19.29 per hour.
