Part-time Research Support Assistant- S Illinois 7200 NIFA QTL Nt - Sawers lab

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Support the Sawers group maize genetics program.
• Perform a range of standard lab tasks, including:
  • Seed inventory
  • Preparation of material for planting in greenhouse and field nurseries
  • Conducting controlled pollinations in the field/greenhouse
  • Harvest and seed sorting
  • Preparing and conducting greenhouse experiments
  • Collecting data
• Coordinate field activities across multiple growing seasons, involving several collaborators and personnel.
• Possess a working knowledge of molecular biology to ensure effective communication with group members.
• Have basic computer skills, including use of shared database and spreadsheet platforms.
• Show sound organizational skills and maintain a professional working attitude.
