About the role
foundry10 is an education research organization focused on expanding ideas about learning and creating direct value for youth. The position is hybrid: candidates must reside in Washington State and will work both remotely and in‑person at the office as needed. This is a part‑time, temporary role (8–15 hours per week) starting in mid‑October and ending on July 29, 2027.
Pay
$33 per hour.
Schedule
Variable hours of 8–15 hours per week. The role includes a consistent schedule of 6–13 hours from Monday through Thursday (specific hours to be determined) and a required commitment to work Saturdays in the afternoon for 2–3 hours from the second week of January through the end of June.
Responsibilities
- Support the conception and implementation of research projects, including literature reviews, IRB proposal drafting, recruitment plan development, and design of surveys and other research tools.
- Coordinate with school administrators, teachers, and parents to obtain consent and schedule data collection.
- Assist with data collection, data management, and preparation (e.g., data entry, cleaning).
- Conduct data analysis such as descriptive statistical analysis and qualitative coding.
- Share results through written reports and other relevant mediums.
- Participate in project team meetings and use project‑management software to track tasks and schedules.
- Co‑facilitate workshops that build research skills and community‑building activities for high‑school‑aged participants.
- Serve as back‑up facilitator when the primary facilitator is unavailable.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in education, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field.
- 2+ years experience facilitating programming with diverse high‑school‑aged students, including those disengaged from school.
- Experience coordinating administrative or program logistics (scheduling, communication tracking, event or meeting support).
- Overall familiarity with the research process.
- Competence with Google Suite.
- Ability to organize and prioritize competing tasks and projects.
- Strong communication skills for fast‑paced team collaboration.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in a hybrid team environment.
- Understanding of emerging educational technologies used in K‑12 settings.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with qualitative and/or ethnographic research methods (e.g., interviews, focus groups, participatory action research).
- Experience working on any stage of the research process (e.g., curriculum‑related projects, faculty lab work).
- Experience synthesizing information from literature reviews.
- Experience working with children and/or youth, preferably in research or education settings.
- Demonstrated ability to engage professionally with diverse groups (parents, teachers, administrators) via email, phone, or in‑person.
Other Requirements
- Availability to work Saturdays from January through June for 2–3 hours each afternoon.
- Ability to maintain a consistent 6–13 hour weekly schedule (Monday‑Thursday) with some flexibility.
- Eligibility to work in the United States (visa sponsorship not available).
- Compliance with masking and COVID‑testing policies when working in person.
