Part-Time Research Assistant - Machtinger Lab (S2P Equine)

Summer research support technologists are sought for the Veterinary Entomology Laboratory in the Entomology Department.

About the role

Assist with research projects focused on ticks and wildlife, including:

• Rodent (mouse and squirrel) trapping and tick dragging
• Environmental assessments
• Equine tick control studies
• Deer and tick control studies
• Laboratory studies involving mice and voles

Work may involve early mornings, long days, and challenging field conditions such as thick vegetation, sun, rain, and uneven terrain. Additional duties include data entry, camera trap evaluation, cleaning, and restocking supplies.

Requirements

• Comfort working with rodents, wildlife, ticks, horses, and deer
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle records check
• Successful completion of background checks in accordance with University policies

Pay

$17 per hour
