Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room for surgery, set up surgical instruments and equipment, and maintain sterile conditions
- Adhere to safety standards and precautions, including verifying patient identity and reviewing surgical procedures to prevent errors
- Assess patients before surgery (e.g., NPO status) and comfort them while alleviating anxiety
- Assist surgeons during surgery by passing instruments and other sterile supplies
- Collaborate with the surgical team, communicate patient information, and ensure patient safety during the operation
- Monitor patient vital signs and maintain patient safety throughout the procedure
- Coordinate post-operative care, including patient recovery and room turnover
- Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing patient care requirements
- Participate in ongoing educational activities to maintain competency and improve professional skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required
- Current Connecticut state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) required
- Minimum of 2 years of circulating experience, including at least 1 year in orthopedics
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment
Pay
$39 – $55 per hour
Schedule
- Part-time, 2–3 days per week
- Day shift: 8- or 10-hour shifts available
