About the Role
The Clinical Dietitian assesses patients, develops personalized nutrition care plans, monitors therapy effectiveness, and provides education to patients and staff.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient dietary needs and review medical orders
- Create and implement individualized medical nutrition therapy plans, including specialized support like enteral and parenteral nutrition
- Collaborate with food service to ensure diet compliance and evaluate food quality
- Calculate nutritional requirements and manage diet restrictions and drug interactions
- Conduct nutritional assessments, document care plans, and monitor patient progress
- Provide nutritional education tailored to patient learning needs
- Adjust therapy based on patient response and compliance
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and rounds
- Serve as a resource for medical and nursing staff and oversee clinical support team activities
- Evaluate food service quality and ensure adherence to dietary prescriptions
- Perform other duties including staff orientation and tray line procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in dietetics or nutrition
- 1-2 years healthcare experience
- Current state licensure/registration and active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
- Knowledge of enteral feeding, nutritional calculations, and patient confidentiality
