Part-Time Recreation Specialist - Events & Operations

Responsibilities

  • Supports the planning, development, implementation, marketing, coordination, setup, execution, and breakdown of City-sponsored special events and recreation programs.
  • Ensures the successful delivery of community events and recreation center operations through field operations, logistics, public engagement, sponsorship support, and enforcement of policies and procedures.
  • Operational support, program oversight, participant and customer service support, maintaining participation and revenue records, assisting with budget implementation, and supporting daily recreation center operations as assigned.
  • Supports the daily operations of the C.K. Ray Recreation Center by assisting with customer service, facility supervision, program support, front desk operations, and general recreation center functions as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred, Minimum 30 hours of continuing education; preferably recreation, education, or human services required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience planning and implementing recreational activities.

Special Requirements

  • Current Certification in First Aid, CPR and AED certification or be able to obtain within one (1) month of hire.

  • Follows direction as well as works independently when needed.
  • Works effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Serves in a lead role during special events and operational activities.
  • Maintains professionalism in public-facing environments.
  • Exhibits excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact directly with the public using good communication skills.
  • Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates designated programs and events.
  • Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Canva, Publisher, Power Point, and Outlook; able to learn and use applicable web-based programs (i.e., ActiveNet, When to Work, Kronos) and others as needed.

Physical Demands

  • The work is medium requiring exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • The following physical abilities are required: balancing, fingering, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, reaching, speaking, standing, talking, and walking.

Pay

Starting salary for this position is $21.17 hourly.
