Essential Functions
- Exhibits and mentors the scholar-athletes in good sportsmanship and fair play.
- Attends league meetings and completes all required trainings/certifications.
- Attends mandatory coaches’ meetings and trainings.
- Attends pre-season Athletics meetings (in evening) with parents/guardians.
- Maintains a safe environment for the scholar-athletes by checking the playing area and equipment before each practice and game.
- Prevents injuries to the best of their ability through thoughtful, balanced workouts and practices.
- Instructs scholar-athletes in the basic rules and fundamentals of the sport.
- Implements Athlete registration and evaluations and maintains the evaluation base.
- Reports match scores to CIF and Social Media outlets.
- Sends weekly communication email to scholar-athletes and their parents/guardians with a look ahead to the coming 1-2 weeks (practices and games), objectives for the week, and any other pertinent information.
- Regularly communicates with scholar-athletes, parents/guardians, and the Athletics Department to ensure a positive experience for all scholar-athletes/team.
- Upholds Oakwood’s core values.
- Fosters an inclusive team environment.
- Travels to and from competitions scheduled by yourself and the AD.
- Travels to potential overnight trips during the entire season, which includes regional and state playoffs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
- Three years minimum of related coaching experience is preferred.
- Valid CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (American Red Cross/American Heart Association).
- General knowledge of best practices in interscholastic athletics and specifically Indoor Volleyball.
