About the role

Escalante Valley Elementary School is seeking a Part-Time Preschool Bus Attendant to work 16 hours per week. The attendant collaborates with the driver to ensure the safety and special needs of students with disabilities during transportation to and from school.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Bus Driver in safely transporting children to and from school.
• Help with the safe and orderly loading and unloading of children, including proper child lifting techniques and operation of special equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, lifts).
• Enter and exit the school bus safely within a reasonable timeframe.
• Properly secure and release students who ride the bus.
• Follow emergency evacuation procedures, including the use of emergency equipment and evacuating children who may or may not be ambulatory.
• Adhere to safe work practices and procedures.
• Implement behavior management programs and communicate effectively with students with special needs.
• Lift and position students as needed.

Requirements

• Basic computer knowledge, familiarity with Google Docs, and frequent email checking.
• Willingness to learn and use all required computer systems and software.
• Understand that routes and hours may vary from year to year and within a school year.
