Part-Time Physical Education Teacher SY26-27 (Richmond)

About the Role

Summit Public Schools is seeking a part-time Physical Education Teacher (0.2 FTE) for Summit Tam Middle School for the 2026-27 school year. This role focuses on helping students build lifelong fitness habits, develop motor skills, and learn teamwork and sportsmanship through engaging physical education units. All work occurs between 2:05 PM and 3:30 PM each day.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead engaging PE units that promote physical fitness, health, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Help students develop lifelong fitness habits and motor skills through a variety of activities.
• Facilitate active participation, lead skill instruction, and provide real-time feedback to students.
• Serve as a mentor to a group of students, building strong relationships based on trust over multiple years.
• Collaborate with grade-level and subject-area colleagues in communities of practice to improve as a project-based teacher.
• Create culturally responsive and equitable learning pathways for all students in an intentionally heterogeneous school.
• Engage in professional development and continuous improvement as part of a network committed to growth.

Requirements

• Commitment to Summit’s values and belief in equitable, rigorous education for all students.
• Valid California Teaching Credential in Physical Education.
• Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree in Education preferred but not required).
• Clear health and background check.
• Teaching experience in the subject is preferred but not required.

Pay

Salary for this position ranges from $12,585 to $20,538, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
