Job Responsibilities

  • Carefully review and fill all prescription orders, including administering immunizations for patients and customers.
  • Advise patient of Drug Utilization Review (DUR), which includes appropriate dosing, and duration of use, drug interactions, allergy warnings, and drug compatibility.
  • Evaluate daily business; consider staffing levels and other factors to maintain efficient operations.
  • Communicate in an effective and professional manner with co-workers, chief pharmacist, prescribers, nurses, other healthcare professionals, and entities.
  • Ensure compliance obligations are met in all aspects of business.
  • Maintain required professional licensures with the PA State Board of Pharmacy, including the completion of continuing education hours and training.
  • Maintain accurate records of controlled substance and narcotic inventory and appropriately return expired or unsalable controlled substances to Inmar for credit and proper destruction.
  • Cook up the pharmacy opening and closing process and ensure all work is completed at the end of the day; prepare the pharmacy for the following days' business and verify the physical security of the pharmacy at closing.

Requirements

This position supports UHS, several Penn State departments, and outreach units across the University’s Commonwealth campuses. Each position requires a minimum commitment of 16 hours per week. Work schedules are based on business needs and are generally assigned between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday shift (8am-4pm) as needed to support pharmacy operations.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited college or university. Must be licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of Pennsylvania and be in good standing with the PA State Board of Pharmacy. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to perform job duties. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.

Skills

Strong organizational and time management skills are required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is preferred.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $30,000 - $40,000 annually.

Background Checks/Clearances

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
