Part-Time Paraprofessional - Special Education - Multiple Positions

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Assists in providing a safe and encouraging learning environment to meet the students' needs, interests, and abilities.
• Demonstrates professionalism, maintain confidentiality, accept constructive feedback and maintain an atmosphere that promotes student learning.
• Supports the classroom teacher in instruction by engaging in planning, following plans outlined by the teacher, and working with individual students/small groups.
• Supports the classroom teacher in assessment by monitoring independent work, collecting academic/behavioral data, and assisting in keeping accurate/current record of student progress.
• Supports the classroom teacher in organization by performing clerical duties, assisting in gathering/developing instructional materials, and maintaining an organized work environment.
• Demonstrates characteristics of an effective team member by engaging in problem solving, and exhibiting flexibility, and cooperation.
• Works continuously toward self-improvement through the active pursuit of professional development activities.
• Implements School Board and school-based policies and procedures in order to uphold school regulations.
• Assumes other responsibilities and perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Director of Educational Resources/Executive Director of Teaching and Learning.

Minimum Qualifications

• A High School diploma and passing ParaPro scores or a minimum of 60 college credits.
• A State of Delaware Paraeducator Permit.
• Experience in working with students of varying abilities.
• Excellent communication, organization, and computer skills.
• Knowledge of IDEA, 504 and IEP's.

Physical Requirements

• This position may require frequent bending, walking, running, and lifting of objects/equipment up to 50 pounds may be required.
