About the role

The Avenue South Part Time Next Gen Coordinator is responsible for overseeing volunteer systems across Preschool, Kids, and Students environments. This role ensures all ministry environments are fully staffed, safe, and effective in discipling the next generation and supporting families.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee weekly volunteer scheduling and placement across Preschool, Kids, and Student environments for all worship and group hours.
  • Work alongside Next Gen ministry staff to ensure all classrooms and ministry environments are fully staffed each week.
  • Execute the volunteer recruitment strategy to meet ongoing ministry needs.
  • Identify, invite, and onboard new volunteers and leaders into Next Gen ministry roles.
  • Ensure all volunteers are properly processed, including background checks, Ministry Safe training, and policy acknowledgments.
  • Provide onboarding, training, orientation for all new volunteers and equip volunteers with weekly communication, schedules, curriculum support, and role expectations.
  • Communicate proactively with teams when vacancies occur and help find immediate solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer assignments, status, and training completion.
  • Be present on Sundays to support volunteer teams, assist with coverage needs, and troubleshoot issues in real time.
  • Check on ministry environments to ensure leaders and volunteers are supported and resourced.
  • Partner with Next Gen staff to provide ongoing encouragement, care, and development for volunteers.
  • Aid in leadership development pathways for high-capacity volunteers.
  • Support and participate in key ministry events such as camps, VBS, trainings, and special events.
  • Aid in ministry to families, especially during times of need or transition.
  • Attend all required staff, coordinator, and training meetings.
  • Assist with additional projects and ministry initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

  • Identifies closely with the mission, values, vision, theology, philosophy and methodology of Brentwood Baptist Church.
  • A mature Christian who demonstrates the Fruit of the Spirit, is growing in their faith and is committed to spiritual disciplines such as Bible reading, prayer.
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be detail oriented and administratively minded.
  • Must possess good organizational skills and be detail-oriented.
  • Dependable, discreet, friendly, professional and neat.
  • Must meet the Brentwood Baptist employee benchmark for computer competency (for Administrative positions only).
