Part-Time Medical Technician (Weekend Overnights)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates knowledge of patient rights.
  • Aid with medication pass.
  • Serve as advocate for patients and families.
  • Advocate for unit needs. Work consistently well with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Maintain a collaborative relationship among healthcare team by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
  • Order supplies.
  • Schedule staff meetings.
  • Send out meeting minutes.
  • Complete Prior authorizations.
  • Complete billing documentation for outside vendors.
  • Prepare patient charts.
  • Compile new staff orientation packets.
  • Assist with monthly chart audits.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled staff meetings as required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Must have excellent computer skills. Email, word processing software, and spreadsheets, in addition to software used for recordkeeping. Ability to carry out instruction and accurately document medical information.
  • Ability to work and communicate with others.
  • Ability to develop rapport with variety of client populations.
  • Ability to apply organizational management skills and maintain self and resident discipline.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain required documentation.
  • Ability to comply with state and federal regulations regarding confidentiality.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with residents.
  • Verbal communication: Convey information to other support staff and medical professionals, as well as patients who visit the office.
  • Active listening: Understand patients' needs and the providers’, or other medical professionals’ instructions.
  • Writing: Correspond in writing with other medical offices, insurance companies, and patients.
  • Interpersonal skills: Understand body language, negotiate with and persuade people, interact with patients, doctors or other health care professionals, and colleagues.
  • Organizational skills: Keep track of insurance forms, schedules, patient charts/files, and office supplies.
  • Be able to seriously multi-task and willing to learn quickly.
  • Computer Savvy (Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 360).
  • Be professional, competent, detail-oriented and self-directed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Regularity required: Sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required: Stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The work environment is that of a substance abuse treatment milieu which may include:
  • Exposure to clients infected with Hepatitis B, HIV, TB, or other Infectious Diseases.
  • Business-related travel may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school or equivalency diploma: Required.
  • Bachelor's degree: Preferred.
  • Certification: Certified Medical Technician Required.
