About the role

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs general ultrasound scans on anatomical regions such as abdomen, pelvis, and small parts
  • Utilizes proper settings on the ultrasound equipment and patient tables for optimal scanning
  • Assembles supply kits and instruments for exams such as thoracentesis, paracentesis and assists physicians with the performance of these procedures
  • Cleans and disinfects transducers according to established infection control standards and manufacturer instructions for use
  • Utilizes the electronic medical record and imaging information systems for processing, storing images and documentation
  • Stocks supplies in the rooms and alerts manager when inventory is low
  • Confers with a radiologist to ensure complete acquisition and selection of images is performed
  • Communicates with other clinical departments to coordinate patient care activities
  • Instructs technical students and collaborates with residents
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • A high school graduate or equivalent
  • Current/valid registration, certification or licensure in Medical Sonography, accreditation in sonography by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS)
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification from the American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to work mid-shift and evenings with rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call
  • Abdomen (AB) certification through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
