About the role
Saga Education is seeking a Math Tutor to support students at Western Heights Middle School in Hagerstown, MD. The position is part-time, working Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 2:15 PM or 10:00 AM to 2:15 PM, or Monday through Thursday from 7:15 AM to 1:05 PM and Fridays from 7:45 AM to 1:20 PM. The position starts on August 17th, 2026, and ends on June 2027. Compensation is $21 per hour, and there is $500 relocation assistance for those relocating over 50 miles.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily math tutoring to your assigned caseload of students for multiple class periods
- Develop lesson plans and prep for tutoring sessions using Saga Curriculum
- Manage the input and analysis of student data to differentiate math instruction for your students and adapt lesson plans as needed
- Maintain attendance records, monitor student academic progress and provide feedback
- Navigate varying technology, both hardware and software, and troubleshoot technical issues as they arise
- Develop student incentives, trackers, and support with celebrations, awards and recognition
- Proactively check and respond to emails and Slack daily, and regularly consult with your Client Relationship Manager or Director of District Partnerships
- Participate in observation and feedback sessions with your Client Relationship Manager, Director of District Partnerships or school-based support staff, as well as weekly reflections and professional development for continuous growth
- Build strong relationships with students to set expectations and manage behavior effectively
- Engage and assist with other duties as assigned by your Client Relationship Manager and school site
- Maintain ongoing communication with classroom teachers and attend planning sessions with the school as directed
Qualifications
- You are a U.S. citizen residing within the U.S. 50 states during the background screening, onboarding processes, and while you work as a Tutor with Saga
- You are age 18 or over with a high school diploma or GED
- You must clear a Criminal History Check, and all other security and health requirements set forth by Saga Education and the school district in which you serve before the start of training
