About the role
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at MediLodge of Capital Area coordinates and provides nursing care for residents and supervises and guides clinical staff members.
Responsibilities
- Documents the resident’s condition and nursing needs.
- Accurately and promptly implements physicians’ orders.
- Sets up nursing care for team members according to the resident's needs and their capabilities and qualifications.
- Supervises, directs, and evaluates junior staff members and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
- Administers medications and performs treatments for assigned residents, and documents these treatments as required by the company, local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
- Participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel.
- Ensures that supplies are used efficiently and equipment is clean and maintained in a safe manner.
- Reports and records pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents.
- Collaborates with other departments to coordinate nursing care for residents during therapy or procedures.
- Interviews applicants and recommends hires.
- Participates in counseling, disciplinary actions, and terminations of staff, to the extent permitted by the state practice act.
- Schedules and directs the nursing staff to the extent permitted by the state practice act.
- Maintains inventory and supplies on the unit and communicates the need for housekeeping, maintenance, or dietary assistance.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited LPN/LVN school.
- Licenses/Certifications: Valid LPN/LVN license in the state where employed, and valid CPR certification.
- Experience: One year experience in nursing preferred.
