About the role

Perform routine office/clerical tasks in support of the assigned campus/department under general supervision while maintaining a high level of confidentiality. Tasks are diverse and similar in nature, and require moderate use of individual analysis and judgement. Adhere to federal and state laws, as well as, district policies procedures and regulations. Attendance at the work site is required to meet essential functions of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Perform required office/clerical duties according to standard practices while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
  • Review, refer and answer routine correspondence, telephone and electronic messages; greet public and route requests for information to appropriate personnel.
  • Enter data into computer or report format; operate basic office machines to include computers, fax machine, copying machine, etc.
  • Provide back-up assistance for receptionist and other clerical staff as needed.
  • Research reports and requests for information; extract information and supporting data to assist administrator.
  • Accommodate the needs of students, parents, teachers, staff and/or the general public as appropriate to assist administration in providing information and services.
  • Participate in professional development activities as required by the district.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties; support district/department goals.
  • Maintain a professional code of ethics and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
  • Proficient skills in keyboarding, word processing, file maintenance, personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and databases, electronic mail and internet.
  • Must be able to communicate, listen, read, write, and comprehend the English language sufficiently to use it easily and readily in daily communication.

Schedule

Part-Time Clerks will work a maximum of 19.5 hours per week.

Physical & mental demands

  • Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions.
  • Repetitive hand/wrist motions and prolonged use of computer.
  • Requires prolonged sitting, moderate standing, walking, bending, reaching, and may require lifting up to 25 lbs.
