Part-time Laboratory Technician

About the role

The Center for Air Resources Engineering and Science (CAARES) is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a part-time laboratory technician to assist in laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

• Receive, log in, and store samples, standards, and solvents as per established standard operating procedures.
• Clean glassware and help maintain an organized lab.
• Under supervision, extract and clean up environmental and biological samples using techniques such as accelerated solvent extraction and solid-phase extraction.
• Under supervision, analyze sample extracts using analytical instrumentation including gas and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry systems.

Requirements

• High School Degree (minimum qualification).
• Multiple high school or college chemistry, biology, or physics courses with laboratory experience.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and work with shifting priorities and schedules.
• Knowledgeable and experienced with basic laboratory operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• BS degree in life sciences.
