Part-Time Kennel/Technician Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a kennel assistant to help with the cleanliness of the hospital and assist our certified veterinary technicians with the day-to-day handling and care of our hospitalized patients. As a Fear Free certified hospital, we seek an individual who is as passionate about the cause as we are.

This position requires 15–28 hours per week, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and stocking the hospital
• Assisting with the handling and care of hospitalized animals
• Ensuring the well-being of animals, even when they are stressed, ill, or in pain
• Maintaining a strong work ethic and proactively seeking tasks to support animal care

Requirements

• Ability to work in an environment with barking dogs and unpleasant odors
• Comfortable standing, walking, or bending for extended periods
• Capable of lifting and carrying animals and food bags (assistance provided for animals over 50 lbs)
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays
• Regular attendance is required

Qualifications

• Animal care background is desirable but not required
• Genuine enjoyment of working with animals
• Ability to remain unaffected by noise, odors, and challenging animal behavior
