Part-time Intern, Marine Science
About the role
A paid part-time intern position is available to work with Dr. Kelly Dorgan at The University of Texas Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas, TX, starting in September 2026. The position is intended for a student or recent graduate looking to learn more about marine science and gain research experience by helping with various tasks in the lab, but anyone interested in learning about marine science is encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities will be:
- Processing sediment samples for water content and grain size
- Sorting samples of infaunal animals (worms, clams, crustaceans) under a microscope
Qualifications
Research in the lab integrates ecology, biomechanics (including engineering theory and methods), and invertebrate behavior, morphology and physiology with engineering theory and methods, including development of new instrumentation. Schedule
The position is available for 4-10 hours per week, starting in September 2026. Review of applications will begin on August 26th and continue until the position is filled.
