Part Time Instructor - Diesel Technology

About the role

An instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to help students meet course outcomes. You will collaborate with the Dean and colleagues to improve the student learning experience. Being hired into the regular part-time instructor pool does not guarantee employment; classes are assigned on an as-needed basis, and hours vary each term based on student enrollment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, teach, grade, and assess student learning in assigned courses.
• Create and model a quality learning environment supporting a diverse student population, including students with disabilities or special learning needs.
• Maintain student records and provide documentation for incompletes within established College timelines.
• Use technology-based programs to access and input information related to student records and college processes.
• Assist students with registration, advising, and graduation processes.
• Structure classes and curriculum to align with program and course outcomes.
• Prepare, distribute, and utilize instructional support materials, including syllabi, supplementary materials, and instructional media.
• Convene classes as scheduled and respond to student inquiries.
• Assist students outside the classroom through posted office hours.
• Attend in-service sessions, college meetings, graduation, and convocation as required.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of five of the last ten years of experience in Diesel/Heavy Equipment repair or training (relevant work experience required).
• Demonstrated proficiency with electronic diagnostic equipment.

Qualifications

• Teaching experience at the post-secondary level (preferred).
• Hybrid vehicle experience (preferred).
• Light-duty diesel experience (preferred).
