Part-Time Instructor, Data Science, Fall 2025
About the role
The Program in Data Science, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, School of Arts and Sciences-Newark, Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N), is seeking part-time instructors (Lecturer/Coadjutant) for the Fall 2025 semester to teach data science courses. The successful candidate will have an interest in teaching ethical issues in data science and machine learning.
Responsibilities
- Preparing course material
- Creating and posting a course syllabus
- Presenting material during the assigned course times
- Holding office hours and providing appropriate out-of-class time for students
- Responding to student e-mails
- Conducting and grading assessments of students through assignments, exams, and other means, in a timely manner
- Submitting final grades
Requirements
Courses may require instruction during the day, in the evenings, on weekends, off-campus, online, hybrid, remotely, or any combination of these, based on the academic needs of the department.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- An interest in teaching ethical issues in data science and machine learning
- Experience teaching data science courses
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Skills
