Part-Time Instructor, Data Science, Fall 2025

About the role

The Program in Data Science, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, School of Arts and Sciences-Newark, Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N), is seeking part-time instructors (Lecturer/Coadjutant) for the Fall 2025 semester to teach data science courses. The successful candidate will have an interest in teaching ethical issues in data science and machine learning.

Responsibilities

• Preparing course material
• Creating and posting a course syllabus
• Presenting material during the assigned course times
• Holding office hours and providing appropriate out-of-class time for students
• Responding to student e-mails
• Conducting and grading assessments of students through assignments, exams, and other means, in a timely manner
• Submitting final grades

Requirements

Courses may require instruction during the day, in the evenings, on weekends, off-campus, online, hybrid, remotely, or any combination of these, based on the academic needs of the department.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

• An interest in teaching ethical issues in data science and machine learning
• Experience teaching data science courses
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
