About the Role

We are seeking a part-time Instructional Assistant for an Emotional Support classroom within the Student Services division of the Chester County Intermediate Unit, located in Coatesville, PA. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Associates degree or higher OR completion of two years of post-secondary education OR 48 credit hours from an accredited college or university preferred
• Experience with special needs population preferred
• Experience working with students with severe/complex behavioral/emotional issues preferred
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred
• Current police, child abuse, and FBI fingerprint clearances required

Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of a basic skills program or educational programming as directed by the educational consultant or classroom teacher
• Provide individual tutoring or one-on-one support for students with special needs
• Perform duties requiring some lifting
• Work independently and as part of a team in an educational setting
• Perform physical intervention with students in crisis when required

Schedule

• Monday - Friday, 185 days per year
• 6.5 hours per day
• Start Date: August 11, 2026

Pay

Hourly rate for the 2026-2027 school year:

• 0 - 9 years experience = $19.38
• 10 - 13 years experience = $21.29
• 14 - 17 years experience = $23.19
• 18 - 25 years experience = $25.11
• Bachelor's degree is equivalent to 9 years experience on the scale = $19.38
• Master's degree is equivalent to 15 years experience on the scale = $23.19
