General Summary

Schedules and performs hearing and vision screens for preschool and school-aged children. Completes paperwork according to Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and Macomb County protocol. Maintains communication and organization of all components with staff members. This position is considered as essential personnel for a public health emergency response per the State's Emergency Management Act 390 and Macomb County emergency Management Resolution.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Congducts hearing and vision screening for preschool and school-aged children.
  • Completes and submits reports yielding results of screening.
  • Aids in interpreting results to students and parents.
  • Provides referral information as determined by the results of screening.
  • Schedules hearing and vision screening with school personnel.
  • Attends annual training as required by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Department (MDHHS).
  • Complies with Michigan Child Protection Law 1975, PA 238, MCL 722.621 as a mandated reporter.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a high school diploma or a certificate of successful completion of the General Educational Development Test.
  • Previous experience working with children in an educational, recreational or volunteer capacity preferred.
