Part Time Golf Shop Assistant

About the role

This is a part-time position which normally works less than 20 hours per week on rotating shifts, including regular weekend hours, and is not eligible for City benefits.

Responsibilities

• Assists golfers with scheduling tee times, checking in for play, and processing payment through the point-of-sale (POS) system;
• Maintains the cleanliness and organization of the pro shop, including keeping the sales floor and counter areas neat;
• Monitors and manages course play to ensure proper pace and adherence to tee times;
• Affords assistance with inventory control of hard and soft goods, including receiving shipments, pricing merchandise, maintaining displays, and processing sales transactions;
• Affords assistance with tournament set up preparation and weekly events;
• May assist with golf cart operation and practice facility;
• Observes safety rules and procedures;

Requirements

• Knowledge of: general knowledge of the game of golf, golf rules, golf facility operations and tournament operations.
• Ability to: follow written and oral instructions; operate standard computer software i.e. Word, Excel; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other city employees and with the general public; ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time; maintain and promote a positive professional image; and maintain Texas driver's license (applicable to job responsibilities) and good driving record.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and one year related experience.

Skills

• Knowledge of: general knowledge of the game of golf, golf rules, golf facility operations and tournament operations.
• Ability to: follow written and oral instructions; operate standard computer software i.e. Word, Excel; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other city employees and with the general public; ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time; maintain and promote a positive professional image; and maintain Texas driver's license (applicable to job responsibilities) and good driving record.
