Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis. Applications may be reviewed periodically based on student enrollment needs. The listing of a course in the schedule of classes as “TBA” does not constitute an assignment. The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and is at Management’s sole discretion.

During the academic year, part-time faculty may teach no more than 11.5 Equivalent Semester Hours (ESH) per semester and no more than 23 ESH per academic year. During summer sessions, part-time faculty may teach no more than 10 ESH for both sessions combined.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Spanish language classes and support student success.
  • Participate in general education assessment for Spanish.
  • Engage with students in a technology-rich environment.
  • Grade and provide feedback to students in a timely manner to monitor student mastery and progress.
  • Complete required professional development training.
  • Follow guidelines from department chair and coordinators to ensure that course objectives are met.
  • Communicate in a timely manner with students and with the course coordinators and department chair.
  • Meet established deadlines to submit student mid-term and final course grades.
  • Other duties as assigned by the department chair.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Spanish or a closely-related field.
  • Experience teaching at the college level.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment.
  • Willingness to contribute to the College’s strategic plan of inclusion.
  • Access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (e.g., office, classroom, college campus). If you do not have access to a personal computer, notify the department chair at the time of interview. Subject to available funds, the college may provide temporary access to resources.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.
  • Employees must live in Maryland or a state where the College has payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).
  • Successful completion of a background check and degree verification (if applicable) at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Community college teaching experience.
  • Experience working with dual-enrollment populations.

For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your education equivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service, must be included in your application.
