Duties And Responsibilities
- Teach assigned lecture and/or laboratory courses in the biotechnology discipline.
- Courses may include Introduction to Biotechnology, Introduction to Cell Culture, Aseptic Technique and Cell Culture Skills, Protein Biotechnology, Nucleic Acids Methods, and/or Immunological Methods, as needed.
- Plan, prepare (development of course syllabi, assessments, etc.), present, and coordinate classroom instruction and related activities.
- Teach a varied schedule of courses that may include daytime, evening, weekend and/or accelerated sections.
- Opportunities may exist to teach summer session classes.
- Follow guidelines from department course coordinators to ensure consistent content coverage and student experience across multiple sections of a course.
- Administer, grade, and provide feedback in a timely manner to monitor student mastery and progress through a course.
- Adhere to and enforce laboratory safety regulations.
- Meet college-established deadlines to submit student mid-term and final course grades via an electronic information management system.
Required Qualifications
- Masters in Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, Chemistry or a related major with relevant courses.
- Ability to integrate technology into course delivery.
- Ability to engage students and teach in a belonging, multicultural setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment.
- Willingness to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion.
- Access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus).
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a related field.
- Prior college level teaching experience related to introductory biotechnology courses.
- Biotechnology industry experience.
