Part Time Extended Day Assistant (Ages 9-14)

Near North Montessori (NNM) School seeks a part-time Extended Day Staff member to join the team and provide a caring, warm, and fun environment for students after the school day ends.

About the role

The Extended Day program runs Monday–Friday from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm during the regular school year. Additional work may be available over the summer season.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for and lead or participate in activities for students enrolled in the extended day program.
• Work collaboratively with extended day staff to plan fun, developmentally appropriate activities in both indoor and outdoor environments.
• Assist with organization and preparation of the extended day rooms and other spaces on a daily and weekly basis.
• Assist students with transitions in and out of extended day, including school activities, snack, carpool/pickup, and more, ensuring safety at all times and following established school protocols for child pickup and drop-off.
• Clean the assigned extended day room and provide input into ideas for new materials and room arrangement.
• Update records and paperwork as directed by the supervisor.
• Acquire professional training by attending educational conferences, training workshops, and related activities.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
• Prior experience working with children ages 9 to 14.
• Prior experience in a Montessori environment (preferred).
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with children and adults.
• Understanding of a child's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
• Demonstrated ability to follow directions and complete tasks effectively.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy setting.
• Ability to organize and participate in age-appropriate enrichment activities.
• Ability to work well with people.

Pay

$20 per hour.
