About the Role
This part-time position supports the cleanliness and safety of Canyon View High School facilities, primarily focusing on post-activity cleanup and general maintenance. The role operates under the direction of the Principal or Head Custodian.
Responsibilities
- Arrive promptly after school activities to clean, sanitize, and maintain a safe, clean, and attractive environment.
- Perform a variety of cleaning tasks on school grounds, classrooms, restrooms, and other areas within and outside the buildings.
- Maintain good housekeeping and proper care of school grounds, ensuring they are safe and free of obstructions.
- Follow preventative maintenance procedures for equipment and report inoperable items to the supervisor.
- Conserve energy by ensuring windows, doors, lights, and other areas are energy-efficient.
- Assist in site preparation for daily operations (e.g., opening gates, raising flags, sweeping walkways) to ensure facilities are operational and hazard-free.
- Assist with site snow removal to ensure access and safety.
- Clean assigned facilities and grounds (e.g., classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms) to maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment.
- Perform minor maintenance on custodial equipment (e.g., changing vacuum cleaner belts, bags) to ensure proper functioning.
- Perform summer cleaning and maintenance tasks (e.g., stripping and waxing floors, moving furniture, painting) for deep cleaning and facility upkeep.
- Ensure all doors, windows, and building areas are secure at the end of the day.
- Replenish classroom and restroom supplies (e.g., paper towels, soap) to ensure adequate quantities for daily use.
- Vacuum and sweep all rooms, corridors, halls, gymnasiums, and offices as needed after each activity.
- Mop restroom floors, clean and disinfect fixtures, clean mirrors and stalls, and check paper and hand soap daily.
- Observe and suggest repairs, alterations, changes, or equipment needs for the school.
- Respond to immediate safety and operational concerns (e.g., facility damage, vandalism, alarms) and notify appropriate personnel.
- Report safety, sanitary, and fire hazards.
- Respond to inquiries from staff, students, parents, or visitors, directing them to appropriate personnel as needed.
- Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance and job performance.
