Part Time Evenings-Phlebotomy
Job Description
Performs venous, capillary, urine drug screen, swab collection, or other specimen collection. Ensures quality collection of specimens including appropriate sample container, sample volume, collection priority, and sample identification.
Solves unusual test orders by following up with care giver, reference lab, pathology, or referring to lab leadership when appropriate.
Receives specimens, assesses priority, assures appropriate specimen identification and type, and processes hospital-registered and outreach patients.
Centrifuges, aliquots, and distributes samples to appropriate testing areas, including loading samples onto various analyzers.
Packages samples for courier transport to off-site testing locations.
Participates in new associate and student training and orientation.
Actively participates in shift-to-shift communication to ensure continuity of laboratory operations and patient care.
Handles and resolves customer inquiries and complaints regarding laboratory results, test requirements, and other laboratory information.
Maintains inter- and intra-department relations through appropriate communication, teamwork, and cooperation.
Performs waived and moderate complexity testing as defined by guidelines under the supervision of laboratory management.
Other duties as assigned.
