Opportunity
We have an immediate opening for a part-time Environmental Planner to work a 16-hour schedule based out of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Western Region Office in downtown Phoenix, Arizona.

Key Responsibilities
- Support new and existing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) projects within the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Western Region.
- Provide technical review to determine the adequacy of documents generated under NEPA, i.e., Categorical Exclusion checklists, Environmental Assessments (EA), and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS).
- Prepare and/or edit NEPA documents and supplemental technical reports for actions before the BIA.
- Facilitate, manage, and assist with processing NEPA documents through the NEPA Tracker 2 database, and extracting information from that database, as needed.
- Cookorate with Federal, Tribal, state, and local offices and other stakeholders; maintain associated mailing lists.
- Coordinate monthly with the BIA advising the BIA of contractor accomplishments, project issues, and plans for the next monthly reporting period.
- Provide technical reviews of biological assessments or reports.
- Provide technical reviews of biological opinions.
- Provide technical reviews of reports and documents related to regulatory acts such as the Endangered Species Act (ESA), Clean Water Act (CWA), and Clean Air Act (CAA) (including climate change).
- Assist with consultation and coordination with other federal and state oversight agencies.
What Youll Bring
- Bachelors degree in Biology, Planning, Anthropology, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Studies, or closely related field.
- Environmental Planning experience in a consulting or agency setting preferred.
- Strong writing skills associated with natural resources and/or NEPA.
- Knowledge of environmental planning focused on federal regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and quality control.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to synthesize and present complex ideas through text and graphics.
- Ability to multitask and be able to adjust to daily changes in priorities to meet deadlines.
- Desire to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Ability to work in the office 2 days per week on average, as applicable.
What We Offer
- Compensation: This is a part-time position paid on an hourly basis between $25 to $34, depending on experience and education.
- Benefits: This position is not eligible for full Logan Simpson benefits. However, as part-time staff member, you would be eligible for paid sick leave and paid holiday pay.
- Perks: Wellness program with $125 annual Wellness Bucks allowance, paid parking, and paid public transit costs. Flexible Work Schedules: Hybrid work schedule allowing for 2 days (16 hours) at the BIA WRO office. If assigned additional hours, a remote work schedule may be available if approved.
