Part-time Educational Aide, Project SAINT (Social and Academic Mentors)

About the role

Seeking part-time student mentors to work with intellectually disabled adults in Project SAINT: Student Access and Inclusion Together, a grant-funded program at the Santa Fe College Northwest Campus.

Responsibilities

• Attend (audit) one or more classes alongside a student
• Tutor the student before or after class
• Assist with assignments
• Accompany the student to on-campus activities or events
• Work with the student on community-based activities

Reports to: Instructional Specialist, Adults with Disabilities.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled Santa Fe College student in good academic and behavioral standing
• Taking six (6) or more credit hours
• Highly motivated, responsible, and capable
• One to two interviews and three references required
• Must pass a criminal background check

Qualifications

Preferred: Experience as a teacher/tutor or with persons with disabilities.

• Ability to work successfully in a multi-cultural environment
• Strong customer service: respond promptly and courteously to students and faculty, demonstrating patience and persistence when helping students with little or no computer skills
• High ethical standards: demonstrate integrity, professionalism, civility, and ethics in all job-related actions
