Part-time DPW Building & Facilities Worker

Part-time/on-call position in the Public Works Department – Facilities Division. Average weekly hours are 15–25 (will not exceed 30).

About the role

This position reports to the Facilities Supervisor and focuses on cleaning, general maintenance of City buildings, cemetery upkeep, and landscaping/mowing of city property. A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred; training is available for candidates willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Perform simple building maintenance: cleaning, sweeping, painting.
• Remove and trim trees using appropriate hand and power equipment.
• Assist in cemetery maintenance with power equipment such as lawnmowers, sweepers, and related hand tools.
• Perform minor routine equipment maintenance.
• Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid Michigan Driver’s License and good driving record.
• Ability to operate a variety of small equipment and tools.
• Ability to work effectively with other employees and the public.
• Ability to adapt to changes in work priorities and emergencies.
• Must be 18 or older.

Pay

$19.74 per hour.

Schedule

Part-time/on-call, 15–25 hours per week.
