About the role

This position provides administrative support to San Diego State University (SDSU) Dining. Duties include interacting with customers, Meal Plan holders, Parents and SDSU Dining applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support to the dining division including correspondence, faxing, arranging meeting times and locations and preparing reports.
  • Communicates with customers, vendors, applicants and departmental personnel via telephone, in-person and email.
  • Processes meal plan reimbursements and payments through the dining office.
  • Communicates with SDSU students and parents regarding meal plan questions or concerns. Answers questions, provides guidance and information to all inquiries.
  • Sells commuter meal plans; upsells meal plans during specific semester dates.
  • Maintains adequate form supplies in the office.
  • Facilitates maintenance of office machines to ensure equipment operates properly.
  • Performs record management by creating folders, filing and updating information as needed.
  • Collections and distributes mail.
  • Affords assistance in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the office.
  • Observes all safety and company policies and procedures in the performance of duties.

Qualifications

  • The minimum requirement for applicants is a High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) degree.
  • Previous administrative assistant experience or customer service experience is desired.
  • Must be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Must be able to use general office machines and multi-line telephone.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills are required.

  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions, guidelines and objectives.
  • Must be able to prepare and analyze numerical figures, create and interpret spreadsheets.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, percentages and decimals.
  • Must be able to apply common-sense understanding to carry out general written or oral instructions.
  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize work and pay attention to detail.
  • Must be able to apply above average analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Must be able to utilize a computer and the ability to use a variety of office machines and equipment.
  • Must have the ability to talk/expressing and/or exchanging ideas and hear/perceiving sounds.
  • Must be able to operate computers, copy machines, fax machines and other general office equipment.
  • Must be able to sit, move and lift or carry objects or materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
