Job Summary
The Part-Time Dental Hygienist at Positive Impact Health Centers (PIHC) conducts initial client screenings, cleans teeth, advises on oral health, educates clients, assists dentists, maintains documentation, and monitors supplies.Responsibilities
- Ensures patients feel comfortable before examinations
- Conducts initial mouth screenings and checks oral health history
- Identifies conditions like gingivitis or periodontitis
- Cleans and protects teeth (removes plaque, applies fluoride)
- Educates clients on proper tooth care
- Gives instructions post-dental procedures
- Takes X-rays or dental impressions
- Aids dentists in selecting treatments for diseases
- Maintains client documentation and charts
- Maintains supplies and coordinates reordering
Requirements
- Experienced in culturally diverse populations
- Excellent communication skills (writing, spelling, listening, speaking)
- Strong computer and database skills
- Positive, friendly, and helpful demeanor
- Proven experience as Dental Hygienist
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations (e.g. HIPAA)
- Experience in sterilizing, preparing, and maintaining dental equipment
Qualifications
- A minimum of two years of Dental Hygiene experience preferred
- Dentrix software experience preferred
- Previous experience with HIV and/or Infectious Disease preferred
Skills & Abilities
- Experienced in working with culturally diverse populations
- Must have great communication skills (writing, spelling, listening, speaking) and interpersonal skills
- Must have strong computer and database system skills
- Must have excellent customer service skills and warm personality
- Proven experience as Dental Hygienist
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g. HIPAA)
- Experience in sterilizing, preparing, and maintaining dental equipment
Licensure
Active, unrestricted dental hygiene license in the state of GeorgiaCertification
Current CPR certificationPhysical Demands
- Frequent sitting and talking/hearing
- Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds
- Close vision and ability to adjust focus
