About the Role
A Dental Assistant supports patient care by providing exceptional service, assisting dentists during procedures, and ensuring a positive patient experience. They help maintain patient flow, prepare and sterilize equipment, take radiographs, review patient charts, and educate patients. The role involves collaboration with the team to deliver high-quality care, assist with scheduling and lab coordination, and promote practice services and products.
Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding customer service with a friendly, professional demeanor.
- Assist dentists and hygienists with procedures, anticipate their needs, and support efficient patient flow.
- Take and develop radiographs, review patient charts, and transcribe notes accurately.
- Prepare and sterilize equipment, maintain a clean operatory, and follow safety protocols.
- Educate patients, address questions, and ensure confidentiality per HIPAA.
- Support front office tasks such as scheduling follow-ups and tracking lab cases.
- Monitor and order dental supplies, promote practice services, and participate in daily team huddles.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; current radiography certification required.
- Dental Assistant certification as per state requirements; CPR certification preferred.
- Experience with patient interaction, excellent customer service skills, and professionalism.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
- Computer proficiency and adaptability to new software.
- Knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols.
Work Environment
The role involves patient interaction, equipment sterilization, and safety procedures, with potential prolonged sitting and standing. Flexibility for overtime and travel for training may be required.
