About the Role
If you love inspiring and motivating young learners and want to put students first in education, CSUSA is the right place for you. As a Part-Time Day Custodian, you will ensure existing facilities are kept clean, safe, and well maintained.
Responsibilities
- Clean assigned interior areas: hallways, restrooms, offices, classrooms, multi-purpose room, and any other area assigned by supervisor.
- Clean assigned exterior areas: perimeter of school building, parking lot, playground, windows, and any other area assigned by supervisor.
- Empty trash from all trash receptacles.
- Dust FF&E, window sills, air vents, and any other area assigned by supervisor.
- Clean and sterilize restroom facilities.
- Clean up bodily messes including vomit, feces, urine, and blood in accordance with training.
- Remove waste in cafeteria for breakfast and lunch; assist with cleaning cafeteria tables.
- Keep cafeteria floors at an acceptable clean level.
- Sterilize all high-use areas to reduce the spread of bacteria and other harmful agents.
- Assist Head Custodian with cleaning projects or tasks.
- Assist with the creation and implementation of building preventative maintenance processes and monitoring systems for extended life of facility-related components.
- Travel may be required to nearby schools or warehouse/storage.
- Participate in training programs to increase individual skill and proficiency related to assignments.
- Review current developments and literature related to janitorial responsibilities.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA and maximum safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as delegated by supervisor.
- Follow federal and state laws, as well as company policies.
- Carry a hand-held radio while on school property if assigned by supervisor.
- Stay on school property from the beginning to the end of the workday, including lunch.
- Report and assist with all emergency situations as needed.
- Do not leave campus to run errands (personally or for the school) without permission from the Facilities Supervisor.
Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; continuing education in construction or facilities-related fields preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year of janitorial trade experience.
Work Environment
While performing the responsibilities of this position, the work environment includes usual office and school facility conditions.

- Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects.

This position is nonexempt and subject to the minimum wage and overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
