Part-Time Construction Inspector - Central / South Florida

About the role

The successful applicant will join a highly motivated conservation team dedicated toward accomplishing Ducks Unlimited's (DU) mission. Applicant will assist a regional team deliver wetland, riparian, and associated habitat restoration projects in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee.

Responsibilities

• Serve as DU's representative on construction projects, while performing a variety of inspections to verify contractor's compliance with plans, specifications, and standards
• Prepare inspection reports and maintain project records
• Be responsible for the operation of various surveying equipment to assist with construction surveys
• Assist Regional Engineer(s) and other Technician(s) with a variety of administrative duties

Qualifications

• Knowledge of methods and techniques of project administration, construction inspection and materials testing
• Knowledge in heavy construction work methods, practices, materials and equipment (10 years minimum experience in the construction field required)
• Experience and knowledge in construction surveying techniques, including GPS and the ability to assist in both design and construction surveys
• Demonstrated ability to work with public and private conservation partners
• Demonstrated oral and written interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to operate ATV and outboard boats in various environments
• Self-motivated and goal oriented
• Willingness to work outside of normal business hours, willingness to work independently, willingness to travel out of town and overnight on a regular basis, ability to work in inclement weather, and ability to work with minimal supervision in remote work environments
