Part-time Choral Accompanist- Piano (Contractor)

About the role

The person selected will provide piano accompaniment for the Chapel Choir during Sunday morning services, Christmas Concerts, and other services as assigned. The Choral Arts Director will serve as the pianist’s primary point of contact.

Responsibilities

• Accompany the choir at rehearsals
• Weekly rehearsal on Thursdays from 6:30pm–8:30pm (September–May)
• Monthly rehearsal on Saturdays from 9am–noon (October 3, November 7, and December 5, 2026)
• Accompany the choir Sunday mornings (September–May) with an 8:30am call time to rehearse before the 9am service (during Advent, the choir also sings during the 11am service)
• Accompany the choir for the 2026 Christmas Concerts:
  • Friday, December 11 (7pm)
  • Saturday, December 12 (1pm and 5pm)
  • Sunday, December 13 (3pm)

Skills

• Advanced piano proficiency
• Ability to sight read
• Ability to work and respond with a positive attitude under pressure
• Collaborative and flexible
• Quickly and easily learn new musical selections
• Prior experience in choral accompanying – can follow the director (tempo, dynamics, etc.)
• Open score reading

Pay

$250 per week (Thursday rehearsal/Sunday service) with additional pay for Christmas concerts, related extra rehearsals, and special services such as Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Annual compensation range: $10,500–$11,350.

• September–May season
• Thursdays 6:30pm–8:30pm (weekly rehearsals)
• Saturdays 9am–noon (monthly rehearsals on October 3, November 7, and December 5, 2026)
• Sundays 8:30am call time (September–May)
• Christmas Concerts: December 11–13, 2026
