Part-Time Chaplain

About the Role

Join our team at Menger Springs Senior Living Community in Boerne, TX, a state-of-the-art Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). We are seeking a positive, compassionate, and customer service-focused Chaplain to support the religious and spiritual needs of our residents, their families, and staff. Responsibilities

• Ensure opportunities for corporate worship and spiritual growth for residents, staff, and families.
• Lead worship services and small group religious studies tailored to the audience’s capacities.
• Liaise with local clergy to arrange denominational religious needs.
• Schedule and coordinate volunteer and paid musicians, including submitting payment vouchers.
• Provide materials for meditation and spiritual reflection.
• Welcome new residents and conduct regular visits to those in crisis or very ill.
• Provide Nearing Death Kit materials for residents who are actively dying and their families.
• Visit residents and employees hospitalized locally.
• Send bereavement letters to next of kin.
• Conduct funeral or memorial services as requested by families in the local area.
• Make facility space available for memorial services led by local pastors.
• Invite local clergy to participate in worship leadership and pastoral care.
• Ensure religious programs brought by churches are appropriate for residents.
• Participate in ministerial alliances and denominational groups.
• Serve on the Ministries Speakers Bureau and be available for supply preaching in local churches.
• Participate in professional organizations.
• Supervise Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) and seminarian interns/students providing ministry in our facilities.
• Attend supervisor’s meetings as required.
• Provide in-service education and orientation for staff members.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited college and seminary.
• Ordination and good standing with a denomination.
• Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) and/or training in counseling, aging, or ecumenical worship.
• Parish or chaplaincy experience.
• Basic computer skills, including word processing and email.
• Valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Spanish is helpful.
• Preference given to Board Certified Chaplains or those in the process of certification.
