Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Comply with all Company policies, standard operating procedures, and all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Comply with all Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and maintain an excellent safety record.
  • Manage your Department Of Transportation Hours Of Service (“HOS”) to remain in compliance and communicate any conflicts with completing assigned route(s) within the HOS to dispatch.
  • Ensure loads are delivered in a safe, timely, and professional manner.
  • Properly complete and document pre and post trip vehicle inspections.
  • Identify preventative vehicle maintenance when needed, and communicate to management and appropriate service providers.
  • Confirm that each shipment load matches the manifest documentation.
  • Account for the safe handling of freight loaded/unloaded during live loads and unloads.
  • Complete all required paperwork or automated workflow for all pickups and deliveries.
  • Plan routes for weather conditions and traffic reports prior to departure and communicate potential issues with dispatch.
  • Follow the delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times, stopping for all required breaks.
  • Complete other duties as required, including, but not limited to, organizing trailers within the truck yard to prepare for unloading, loading, and transport, delivering vehicles for service, recovering drivers out of hours and any other assigned dispatches.
  • Demonstrate flexibility around work assignments and schedule requirements with prior notification.

Education And Experience Requirements

  • CDL Driver Class A license is required.
  • 24 months or more of experience with safe and efficient operation of tandem day-cabs or sleepers either over-the-road or regionally is preferred.
  • Experience with dry van delivery is preferred.
  • Experience with On Board Computer and software (i.e. Electronic Logging Device, Electronic Driver Vehicle Inspection Report, Global Positioning System, Automated Workflow) is preferred; OSJL will train an exceptional candidate.
  • A safe driving record and continuous dedication to upholding high safety standards.
  • Ability to pass a DOT drug test, federal clearinghouse check, DOT physical, and all other state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid DOT medical card.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).

Work Environment

  • Must be able to work the maximum available DOT hours.
  • Should be able to lift and move 50 lbs of material on a regular basis.
  • Should be able to bend, lift, stretch, and reach both below the waist and above the head.
  • Overnight and weekend assignments may be required.

Pay

This job's salary range is $27/hour.
