About the role

At Ball State University our Part Time Bus Drivers will operate Ball State University buses to transport students, faculty, staff, and personnel on the shuttle run or other dispatched runs.

Responsibilities

• Operate passenger buses, shuttles, vans and para-transit units on various routes as established by the Transportation Office.
• Inspect buses and report any equipment malfunctions; maintain cleanliness of vehicles.
• Maintain accurate records of mileage and number of passengers; complete various trip sheets and logs for each assigned task.
• Aid and direct disabled individuals on and off vehicles as needed.
• Report any problems with routes and make recommendations for changes when appropriate.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
• At least six months of verified professional driving experience.
• Must demonstrate ability to drive bus (on-site driving test).
• Must possess and maintain a valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) with an endorsement for public passengers and be insurable under the university’s auto fleet policy.
• Must pass a post offer/pre-employment mandatory drug and alcohol test.
• Must be able to perform all mental and physical requirements as outlined in each job duty.

Qualifications

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
