About the role

This is a part-time position with a maximum of 1,508 hours per year and is not eligible for paid holidays, leave, or benefits.

Essential Duties

  • Maintain appropriate order and student conduct
  • Ensure students understand and adhere to program rules and procedures
  • Monitor individuals and small groups of students
  • Avoid interfering with the natural, informal atmosphere of the Afterschool Program
  • Resolve student disputes
  • Refer serious discipline problems to the Program Supervisor
  • Assist in planning and conducting orientation programs for parents and students
  • Develop a calendar of program activities
  • Interact with children to build self-esteem and form a comfortable peer relationship
  • Provide proper examples, emotional support, a friendly attitude, and general guidance
  • Oversee students in art and physical activities
  • Perform a variety of clerical duties in support of program activities
  • Answer telephones and schedule activities
  • Operate a variety of afterschool program and office supplies and equipment
  • Act as a liaison between parents, staff, and school personnel
  • Assist in conferencing with parents regarding student performance and behavior
  • Aid in budgeting and expenditures and inventory of equipment and supplies
  • Collaborate to develop and implement a public relations agenda to promote student enrollment and communicate the objectives and activities of the after-school program
  • Monitor children to ensure their health, safety, and physical well-being
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment for students
  • Involve students in cleaning and organizing the program areas before, during, and after use

Public Speaking Duties

Lead educational programs in front of 10 to 25 children

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • One year experience working with and monitoring school-aged children in organized camp, afterschool, daycare, or similar setting
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered
  • CPR/First Aid Certification within 90 days of employment

Additional Information

This job requires fingerprinting: Candidates must undergo a comprehensive background check and obtain a satisfactory determination from the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL).

Per Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning regulations, continued employment is contingent upon the results of a post-hire fingerprint-based background check.

Hourly rate: Salary will be $21.00 per hour.
