About the role
This is a part-time position with a maximum of 1,508 hours per year and is not eligible for paid holidays, leave, or benefits.
Essential Duties
- Maintain appropriate order and student conduct
- Ensure students understand and adhere to program rules and procedures
- Monitor individuals and small groups of students
- Avoid interfering with the natural, informal atmosphere of the Afterschool Program
- Resolve student disputes
- Refer serious discipline problems to the Program Supervisor
- Assist in planning and conducting orientation programs for parents and students
- Develop a calendar of program activities
- Interact with children to build self-esteem and form a comfortable peer relationship
- Provide proper examples, emotional support, a friendly attitude, and general guidance
- Oversee students in art and physical activities
- Perform a variety of clerical duties in support of program activities
- Answer telephones and schedule activities
- Operate a variety of afterschool program and office supplies and equipment
- Act as a liaison between parents, staff, and school personnel
- Assist in conferencing with parents regarding student performance and behavior
- Aid in budgeting and expenditures and inventory of equipment and supplies
- Collaborate to develop and implement a public relations agenda to promote student enrollment and communicate the objectives and activities of the after-school program
- Monitor children to ensure their health, safety, and physical well-being
- Maintain a clean and organized environment for students
- Involve students in cleaning and organizing the program areas before, during, and after use
Public Speaking Duties
Lead educational programs in front of 10 to 25 children
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- One year experience working with and monitoring school-aged children in organized camp, afterschool, daycare, or similar setting
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered
- CPR/First Aid Certification within 90 days of employment

This job requires fingerprinting: Candidates must undergo a comprehensive background check and obtain a satisfactory determination from the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL).

Hourly rate: Salary will be $21.00 per hour.
