About the role
Aztec Shops, Ltd., founded in 1931, is a non-profit corporation that functions as an auxiliary of San Diego State University. As a “self-sustaining” non-profit SDSU auxiliary, Aztec Shops operates without subsidy from the University or the State. The corporation manages a variety of services including operation of SDSU Campus Stores, SDSU Dining, SDSU Conference Services, SDSU Licensing, and Commercial and Residential Real Estate properties surrounding campus.

Responsibilities
- Takes customer orders and serves food.
- May prepare, cook, or assemble food items, such as sandwiches and salads, and wrap or place orders in containers for carry-out.
- Processes cash, credit card, and meal card transactions.
- Assists with stocking/restocking of inventory and replenishment of food items, utensils, napkins, etc.
- Maintains clean work areas and tools/equipment.
- Provides quality customer service while ensuring compliance with policies and standards.
- Uses interpersonal skills to build customer confidence.
- Maintains positive working relationships with customers and coworkers.
- Observes all safety and Company rules and regulations in the performance of duties.
- Assist other departments as needed.
Qualifications
- The minimum requirement for applicants is a High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) degree equivalent is required. Related experience and/or advanced training or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Food Handler certificate from the County of San Diego is preferred.
Skills
- Basic math skills with the ability to count in ascending or descending order.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Benefits
Work is regularly performed in a food production area where there is frequent exposure to food fumes or airborne particles. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to humid and hot conditions as well as cleaning chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Pay
Cashier: $18.00 per hour
Schedule
Candidates must be available to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs. This may include opening, mid-day, and closing shifts, as well as night shifts, weekends, and holidays throughout the year.
